Grades 3 & 4 Newsletter Week of February 10, 2014 I hope all of you are very proud of your students’ achievements on their second quarter progress reports. Congrats to all of the students!! Both grades will participate in an Essay contest sponsored by the local American Legion Auxiliary. The topic for the essay is “How I Can Show My Pride in Being an American?” The essay is to be typed or handwritten (150-250 words) and is due to me on Wed. 2/19. Students have received paperwork regarding a Book Report that is due Thursday, 3/14 and an Animal Research Report due on Thursday, 2/27. Our classroom Valentine’s Party will be on Thursday, 2/13. Our tentative Academic Agenda is as follows: Math- Grade 3- continuing with Chapter 5- Division Facts and Concepts Chapter Test- Tuesday, 2/11 Please bring a pack of small index cards to make flash cards. Also Grade 3 will be beginning Chapter 6- More Multiplication and Division Facts Grade 4- continuing with Chapter 12- Divide by Two Digits Spelling- Lesson 20- Test Tuesday, 2/11 Working on Lesson 21- Grade 3- words containing (a, aw, au, or, our) sounds Grade 4- Contractions Reading- Grade 3 focused skill- steps in a process Selection: What Do Author’s Do? Grade 4- focused skill- context clues, Selection: Komodo Dragons English- Grades 3 & 4- Vocabulary Workshop- Unit 3, Test- Wed. 2/12 Religion- working on Chapter 7- You Are Blessed Science- beginning Chapter 4 – Light (Physical Science) Social Studies- beginning study of Pennsylvania- Chapter 1- Geography of PA God Bless, Candace A.
